Mermans Mosengo Performs At The Peter Tosh Museum Opening

Last week there was a special opening in Kingston, Jamaica—The Peter Tosh Museum. The museum honors the life and work of Peter Tosh; Jamaica’s global music legend and founding member of the critically acclaimed reggae group, the Wailers. Following the opening was an All Star Tribute featuring Andrew Tosh (Peter Tosh's son), original members of Tosh's band, Word Sound and Power, reggae star Luciano, and PFC's own Mermans Mosengo performing a 3 hour concert covering Tosh's extensive catalog.

Andrew Tosh opened the show with "Pick Myself Up," and made several appearances throughout the evening. Mermans, a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, appropriately performed the song "Mama Africa." Other performances included Kabaka Pyramid singing "Whatcha Gonna Do," Tarrus Riley singing "You Can't Blame The Youth," and Marcia Griffiths and Andrew Tosh singing "Walk and Don't Look Back" (originally a duet with Mick Jagger and Peter Tosh). The classic "Get Up, Stand Up" closed the show with members of the Tosh family gathering on stage to join the performers.
