Ichika Nito is a Japanese musician, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and Youtuber with more than 300 videos and an even bigger fan base of 2 million subscribers.

Ichika started his musical career by playing piano, inspired by the works of Bill Evans, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi. He started practicing by himself for four hours a day, and at the age of 15, he started to play guitar and bass.

“My father loved music very much and he had a guitar, a bass and so many CDs from Iron Maiden, Van Halen and David Lee Roth, he loves metal and hardrock. I remember he made me listen to metal when my mother was pregnant too.” - Ichika on his video Who is Ichika Nito anyways?

Soon he started to make his way through uploading cover videos and improvisations, to music videos showing his skills along with fun titles like When Nirvana only gives you 60 seconds to audition, which made him win notoriety among the young community of gamers and anime fans mostly living in the US.

The 100 levels of Pokemon - Solo guitar

Did you know? His top five anime songs are from Naruto, The Promised Neverland, Tokyo Ghoul, ACCA 13-ku and Land of the Lustrous, he also enjoys video games like Dragon Quest, Legend of Zelda, Mother 2 and Pokemon. His favorite video game soundtracks are from Romancing Saga, Chrono Trigger and Pokemon.

His favorite music genres are Metalcore (from the 2010 to the 2015 scene), Djent (a form of heavy rock music featuring complex rhythms and distorted, low-pitched guitar sounds,) UK garage, Mathrock and R&B. His guitar inspirations are Russell Malone, Tosin Abasi and Marc Okubo, with Veil of Maya as his number one favorite metal band.

The most challenging song Ichika played.

Did you know? Up to date, he has nine guitars! His favorite ones are the Talman, an Ibanez 7 string and of course his signature guitar model is the Ichi10.

“I spent a lot of time practicing with the Ichi10, it’s a headless and lighter guitar which was great because heavy guitars make your body tired and difficult to play for hours. In terms of sound, Ichi10 has six strings that sound beautifully resonant with each other, you can easily play chords without disturbing each note.”
Of all of his songs/loops, his favorite one is a composition for guitar named “Ice.”
