Tamale, Ghana

Tamale is a city with more than 300, 000 inhabitants and is the capital of the Northern region of Ghana. The main languages spoken in the area are Dagbani and English, and most of the inhabitants are Muslims. This is where the Playing For Change Foundation built its second music school in Africa: The Bizung School of music and dance.  Tamale is Mohammed Alidu's hometown and the music school has been built on a land that belongs to his family. The city, who has been growing a lot over the last years,  is an incredible mixture of tradition and modernity: a place where you can buy a donkey or an iphone in the same area !
