Peace Through Music Parties
Beginning in the Fall of 2009, Playing For Change Family members around the world will be hosting “Peace Through Music Parties” in their hometowns. These parties will be taking place in living rooms, community centers, on college campuses, and more—all to share the message and the music of the documentary film, Playing For Change: Peace Through Music.
If you are interested in hosting a Peace Through Music party, keep us informed as we want to see your reactions, responses, discussions or performances. Check out the suggestions below and don’t forget your camera. This global movement to connect the world through music has been built upon the grassroots organizing of people just like you— together we will change the world!
Hosting a Peace Through Music Party is easy, here are some tools and tips:
- Preorder a copy of Playing For Change: Peace Through Music. .
- Choose a location. This could be anywhere from your living room to a community center— anywhere where people can comfortably gather around a TV will suffice.
- Invite your friends and family members. Your Peace Through Music Party is a perfect opportunity to share Playing For Change with the people close to you. For additional exposure, post your party as an event on Facebook (click here for instructions)
- Discuss. After the film, encourage your guests to discuss the project with each other. What ideas did your group come up with to connect the world through music?
- Photos & Video. Record and upload any reactions, responses, discussions or your own Playing For Change performance that took place at your party. Upload your photos to flickr (click here for instructions), facebook, photobucket or your favorite online photo site. Upload your video to youtube (click here for instructions), vimeo, dailymotion or your favorite online video site.
- Document. Submit your photos or videos as well as a link to your facebook event page through the form at playingforchange.com/parties (form will be available on this page the week of October 19th). We will share our favorites through the Playing For Change website, facebook page or twitter. Fan favorites will receive backstage passes for the Playing For Change Band’s upcoming Fall Tour!
